What is the Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)?
The Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) is another type of sleep test used to assess abnormal daytime sleepiness. It involves having a patient take 4-5 naps of 20-30 minutes each.
Many people experience daytime sleepiness even after getting a full night's sleep. This significantly impacts their daily lives, not only reducing work efficiency but also potentially increasing the risk of accidents.
This condition can be caused by many things and you should see a sleep specialist, who will often prescribe it. Full sleep study (Full night polysomnography) or you may undergo a Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), depending on your symptoms and the doctor's discretion.
Those who wish to undergo the MSLT test must have gotten at least 7 hours of sufficient sleep beforehand.
When should you get tested for drowsiness (MSLT)?
